Hannah School is a non-profit primary school that serves rural children from underdeveloped villages in the interior of South India. The dream to develop an English medium school for the rural kids of Thagarakuppam and surrounding villages was realized in June 2007. With an initial enrollment of only twenty-eight children in lower kindergarten, the school now serves almost 250 students ranging from LKG to STD V, as of 2023. The school follows the curriculum and syllabus prescribed by the Tamil Nadu Government and is officially certified and registered by the government.
We provide all the children with free tuition and free uniforms, notebooks and computer classes.
Along with their academics, kids also learn biblical values right from the start of each day at school.
Preference is given to children of widows, fatherless and kids from dysfunctional families.
International interactions with teachers and volunteers from USA to help raise their expectations and standards.
In 2007, the school was established with 25 children rescued from child labor, and has since grown to over 240 children. Children begin in the nursery class at age 4 and continue all the way to grade 5. Throughout their 7 years of education, they receive excellent academic instruction while experiencing spiritual growth through activities such as Bible reading, chapel hour, prayer before class starts, and prayer before leaving for home in the evening. Additionally, they learn to say grace before eating and there is a strong emphasis on personal hygiene. The school is an English medium school and tuition-free, making it highly sought after by the community.

The 5th graders are given a Bible when they graduate. After they graduate and leave Hannah School they may not have an opportunity to learn christian values. So we want to give them a strong foundation in the Bible. The children are with us for a short time – we want to make a difference in their lives for the rest of their lives.
Hannah school is a non-profit organization that is supported 100% by the generous donations of those interested in the education and well-being of under-privileged children of rural India.
